It has come to my attention that April is the National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month. Not that it has anything to do with me seeing I’m not part of that “Nation”. But you know, any excuse to indulge in cheesy sandwiches is a good excuse to me. Even when I’m recovering from a bout of sore throat and cough. 😉
I went the sweet and savoury route for this because:~
- I had extra blueberry sauce screaming out to be used (recipe for that particular dessert to come soon!)
- I didn’t have fresh mozzarella balls seeing they cost 3 times as much as packaged mozzarella
- Packaged mozzarella is pretty salty
- I wanted chocolate in the morning
No, this isn’t a grilled sandwich. I merely toasted the bread, laid on the cheese, broiled it for a minute then slather on whatever I wanted over. It’s rustic, hasty, not very pretty but it was right. Just right for that very moment.
This is my little homage to the wonderful amalgamation of all that’s right in sandwich paradise.
Cheese, crispy bread, tart and sweet berry sauce and nutty chocolate.
Excuse me while I go make another.
Trust you’re having a lovely lovely weekend!
