Bacon & Dates Brussels Sprouts

My brother sent me a picture of a stalk full of Brussels sprouts that he got for for like £2 or something outrageous like that. I was sooooo jealous. One little tiny carton here that contains maybe 12 sprouts costs at least twice as much! They’re usually quite dried and shriveled during the regular times of the year, until December rolls around. And then these gems call out to me from the shelves.

I like to keep my Brussels sprouts simple so whatver you see in this picture is pretty much all I used… plus a bit of salt. 😀

Usually dried cranberries are used but I had some lovely dates so I figured it would pair very well with bacon.

All this oil right out from the bacon. I didn’t need any extra oil at all.

This is my favourite way to cook these babies. I’ve done it before here!

I prefer to toss in the minced garlic towards the end just so they don’t burn in the heat.

Sprinkle on the crunchy bacon bits and there you have it!

I served this on couscous alongside lamb stew. Super festive homey meal there.

Comfort food never looks pretty. But you have to take my word for it when I say it made me really happy.

The sprouts took me about 15 minutes total. I’d cook this every day if only I could get them CHEAP! sulk

  1. BRUSSELS SPROUTS! They’re my favorite side, and I love them paired with bacon. I’ve never tried them with dates, though, and clearly, I need to hop on that bandwagon because these sound delightful. Nice work, lady!
